I was the face painter for the Dakota County Fair for 15 years, and I now paint at the Carver County Fair! I have also painted at several other local fairs, such as Waterski Days in Stillwater, MN, River City Days in Red Wing, MN, and many church and school festivals!
When requesting me for a fair or festival, it is important to remember that I don't typically work the same as your standard "vendor." Face painting is not like selling food...it is actually providing a form of entertainment for your guests, and I just don't make the same profit as food vendors. With that said, being that I only charge about $5 and up for cheek art, it doesn't usually make business sense for me to pay hundreds of dollars for a vendor booth fee unless it is a week long or weekend event where a huge crowd is expected.
If you are tossing around the idea of having a face painter at your event, you can always hire me at my usual hourly rate and provide face painting free to your guests. I can also charge each guest for their face painting, making my services free to you. I've also arranged events somewhere in the middle, where I charge per face and still pay the event a fee or percentage as well once I hit a total that covers my operating costs.
It all depends on the type of event, length and time of the event, how many people are expected, your budget, the location, etc. Since pricing depends on many factors, please contact me via my quote request form and if I'm available, I'll let you know what options you might like to explore!
